The smoke from Canadian fires is so bad in parts of the Northeast, flights have been halted. From CTV News:
Some flights into the New York City area and Philadelphia on Wednesday were delayed and others briefly halted because of reduced visibility from wildfire smoke from Canada.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was slowing traffic but lifted a groundstop on flights from the upper Midwest and East Coast bound for New York LaGuardia International Airport on Wednesday afternoon.
The FAA said it had also begun slowing traffic from the East Coast and Midwest bound for Philadelphia International Airport due to reduced visibility from wildfire smoke. The FAA said there were average delays of 29 minutes.
Just how many wildfires are flaring up in Canada? From Monday:
The BC Wildfire Service says the Donnie Creek wildfire, which has grown to more than 2,400 square kilometres in size, is now considered the second largest in provincial history, while Nova Scotia's largest ever wildfire continues to burn out of control.
Environment Canada has issued a special air quality statement for a large section of southern Ontario, with the agency warning of high levels of air pollution as a result of smoke plumes from local forest fires as well as forest fires in Quebec.
As of late Monday afternoon, 424 fires were burning across Canada, more than 250 of which are considered out of control.
I lived in Los Angeles for many years and we had fires regularly, but I've never seen smoke like this.
I tried to take a photo of the haze covering the Severn River as I was driving over the Naval Academy bridge today, but given that I was driving and trying to pay attention to the road, this was the best I could do.
This smoke is very bad for your health. I learned my lesson yesterday and I’m pretty much staying inside until it all “blows over” - and I’ve got the HEPA air cleaners running. It’s been a reminder to change the filters once in a while...I forgot and this is what I found inside the large air cleaner, yuck:
At least it’s working.
So this is where your extra covid N95 masks can actually do some good! If you do need to be outside for a lengthy period of time, these masks can actually filter out smoke particles. Still, you do not want to be exercising outdoors when the air quality is in the orange zone or worse, mask or no.
So what started these fires?
The mainstream media will blame climate change; and conspiracy theorists will claim intentional arson to create a "dimming" effect to block out the sun's rays. I'm definitely thinking arson is at play, but whether it is a coordinated attack (which could be from foreign countries as well) or just idiot firebugs, that I don't have a strong opinion on. I'm open to theories.
Readers shared the following links in my article yesterday...I cannot verify or confirm these stories…but something is fishy:
So here's week I've had in Annapolis: massive power outage due to transformer explosion. Sonic boom due to out of control plane with unconscious pilot. Hazy, smoke filled skies and dangerous particulate levels due to Canadian wildfires. What’s next? Aliens in Annapolis?
It's bad here in the Detroit area. Windsor, Ontario right across the river. All I can say is none of this is an accident. More purposeful destruction.
Very easy to start forest fires. Imagine Trudea
Mutha weffers up to no hood. Climate change the issue of everything.
