I am desperate to cure myself of chronic dizziness. The ENT thinks it could be caused by “vestibular migraines.” But what’s the trigger?
Well, after a lot of suffering and inability to find any specific food trigger besides MSG/hidden MSG, I have come to the conclusion that that WEATHER plays a big role in my dizziness symptoms. When thunderstorms are forecast, it gets worse.
Yesterday, with humidity between 75-80%, it was pretty damn bad, and I had pressure all over my head that I don’t normally feel. And now we have more thunderstorms coming in this evening. The past few days, I have felt like I’m on a boat. On dry land. The right side of my head is feeling funky, like someone is pressing on it randomly. F@#% this.
But, in some respects, this clearcut connection between symptoms and weather is good news. FINALLY I have identified some triggers - humidity and thunderstorms. This also seems to confirm the vestibular migraine diagnosis, and not some scarier neurological disease that no-one can figure out.
So I looked online and stumbled across the mention of a migraine solution called WeatherX that involves an app that tracks barometric pressure. You buy some cheap earplugs, under $20, that help to ease your transition into the new barometric pressure, and apparently this helps a lot of people with their migraines.
Now, barometric pressure is not the same thing as humidity, and I’m not sure if it’s the humidity or pressure or both, so I have no idea if this will help me. But I have my earplugs on order (you can get them directly from WeatherX or Amazon), and they arrive tomorrow. I will report back later.
Meanwhile, I have also just gotten some roll-on “vertigo relief” that uses a diluted essential oil mix behind the ears. I just tried it like 30 minutes ago. I thought it would do nothing. Well, I actually felt a little weird at first but maybe it’s helping a tad? I’m not sure. I feel a little less dizzy but the right side of my head is still feeling pressure. I will also report back later on this.
Meanwhile, I’m thinking of giving feverfew another try. It doesn’t work for everyone, and I didn’t notice a difference when I tried it before, but who knows, maybe it was the dosage.
Those are curious observations. If it's humidity and not press...does dehumidifying the air change it (like in AC or in areas that use dehumidifiers like a basement)? Or I wonder if you were in an area that had less humidity fluctuations but still pressure changes, what would you experience. I was just in Klamath Falls Oregon and there is low low low humidity there and I have to say...it was pretty darn nice! Living in a humid area, you just get used to it as normal. And now that I am back, I am missing Klamath Falls for sure.
